Fifth Grade Students are required to learn the “Adult Version” of The Act of Contrition. Please begin to work on this version with them. We will also be practicing it daily in school.
Thank you,
Mr. Bishop
O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins, because of Your just punishments, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who is all-good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.
-AMEN

Priest: “Give Thanks to the Lord for He is good.”
Child: “His mercy endures forever.”

Child: “Thank you Father and God bless you.”
Students in 5th grade should know the following prayers: Our Father. Hail Mary. Apostle's Creed. Glory Be. After Communion Prayer.
Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell.
The third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended to heaven
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic* church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
After Communion Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for coming to me, as you offer yourself to me, Let me offer myself to you. I give you my heart that I may always love You, I give You my thoughts, words and actions, that I may think of You, speak of Your love, and show that love to others.
Amen
